After spending a week in NY it was time to get out of the city and head to Wilmington for a fun Prologue on Friday afternoon and a NCC crit on Saturday. Due to the severe rain the prologue was cancelled with too much standing water and would of been interesting last corner and climb as they were on cobblestones.

Saturday was a nice hot day and a 4pm start, It was going to be a nice hot day for a race. The course was 1 mile long so a bit on the longer side of crits with a short hill, rough road and a technical last two corners. The 2nd to last corner was very sketchy with a big pot hole right in the middle of the corner so it was single file through there. I tried very early to get in a break but nothing stuck until about 20 min in. Tino and I were able to get in a 11 man break and the only other team to have 2 guys in the break was UHC and it had every other big team represented. Everyone in the break was willing to work and try to make it to the finish besides UHC. They dropped one guy back from the break to go help the peloton chase us down. In the end they were unsuccessful. With 1 lap to go I knew Tino had a better kick so I followed Mike Friedman when he attacked with 1 to go and went by him just to be caught by the other 9 with a half a lap to go. I knew I was spent from the ditch effort to go solo so I kept the pace high for Tino and so no one else would attack. They passed me with 2 laps to go and Tino ended up 2nd and I rolled in for 10th. We are getting closer to the top step. This weekend is Somerville NJ. Another weekend of racing, another opportunity.
